Allocated and Segregated Are Two Different Words

Allocated means specific bars are recorded as yours. Segregated means they are stored apart from everyone else's. Plenty of storage is one and not the other, and a surprising amount is neither — which is why the paperwork at intake matters more than the vault door.

Come and see the vault before you move anything. No account relationship is required to visit.

The difference

What we will put in writing

Allocated and segregated, which are two different words

Allocated means specific bars are recorded as yours. Segregated means they are stored apart from everyone else's. Plenty of storage is one and not the other, and a surprising amount is neither. Ask any vault which they mean, and get the answer in writing.

It is not lent, leased or rehypothecated

Your metal sits in a vault. It is not used as collateral by us, not lent to anyone, and not part of any financing arrangement. That sounds obvious. It is not universally true in this industry, which is exactly why it is worth stating.

You can come and look at it

Inspection by appointment, and you can attend an audit. A storage arrangement you are not permitted to physically verify is a promise rather than a custody service.

We are not a bank and we say so

No deposits, no lending, no banking services. Stored contents are not FDIC insured — no vault contents anywhere are, including in a bank. Coverage is arranged separately through Lloyd's of London.

Arrange storage

Tell us what you hold and roughly how much. Come and see the vault before you move anything — no account relationship is required to visit.

If a safe deposit box would serve you better than a bulk arrangement, we rent those too and will say so.

Common questions

Is my metal allocated or pooled?
Allocated and segregated, recorded by serial where bars carry them, and stated in the agreement rather than on a website.
Do you ever lend or lease client metal?
No. It is never lent, leased, pledged or used as collateral. It sits in the vault.
Can I come and look at it?
Yes, by appointment, and you may attend the audit. A holding you cannot verify is a promise rather than custody.
Is it FDIC insured?
No, and no vault contents anywhere are, including at a bank. Coverage is arranged separately through Lloyd's of London.
Do I get the same bars back?
Yes, checked against your signed inventory. Ask any vault whether they can settle in cash instead — that clause matters.
Why is silver more expensive to store?
You pay for volume and handling. The same value in silver takes roughly seventy times the space of gold.
Do you offer anonymous storage?
No. Every client is identified and valid legal process is honoured. We publish that position.
What if the company fails?
Metal is held as your property in our custody, allocated and identifiable as yours. It is not our asset and is never pledged.

Tell us what needs to move.

What, from where, and roughly when. You do not need an inventory to start the conversation, and if the job belongs with an armored carrier we will say so on the call.
